Through leading innovations, we help farmers around the world meet the challenge of feeding a growing population and taking care of our planet. We are currently seeking a Tolling Production Manager for the team based in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Role purpose

Within the scope of 3rd party manufacturing (tolling), the purpose of this role is to keep the Syngenta supply risk to a minimum at all times.

  • Ensure full compliance of tollers with Syngenta's HSES and quality requirements and with regulatory, contractual and financial frameworks.
  • Maintain a tolling supply base delivering production flexibility and reliability at a competitive total cost.
  • Coordinate and consult the different Syngenta functions on tolling and toller related topics; act as single key point of contact on managerial level.

Accountabilities

In support of the regional and global FPP strategy, business priorities and budget targets.

  • Accountable for Syngenta HSES policies, quality policies, Crop Life guidance, and good stewardship are understood and adopted by the toller; enforce appropriate management processes at the toller.
  • First point of contact on technical issues.
  • Report and manage any significant, continuing risks and compliance gaps.
  • Address any significant operational issues that arise at the toller.
  • Define and manage toller relationship in collaboration with Procurement per T.O.M.
  • Support HSES and quality audits and drive timely response on findings and action plans.
  • Investigate complaints and ensure resolution through the appropriate interfaces.
  • Ensure product specific documentation is complete and correct; implement any product change requests impacting products at tollers.
  • Ensure QOTIF targets are met through effective collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Measure toller performance (capability mapping) and drive continuous improvement where appropriate.
  • Identify and implement outsource siting options where needed and know the market.
  • Define requirements to contractually secure adequate capacity and competitive cost with the support of the Procurement business partner.
  • Monitor the total tolling cost (per kg/liter) to identify and realize savings opportunities.
  • Lead/participate in selected projects, including product introductions.
  • Ensure master data (including BOMs and OLAs) is set-up correctly and accurately maintained; Investigate production usage / toll fee variances and ensure resolution through appropriate interfaces.  Responsible for defining scrap factors.


Qualifications

  • Engineering degree and/or five years professional experience in a manufacturing or a technical role with close manufacturing interface (e.g., PT&E).

Critical Knowledge

  • Basic understanding of formulation, fill & pack technology and processes
  • Good grasp of 3rd party relationship management
  • Good knowledge of HSE, Quality and Regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Working experience in a manufacturing environment
